Call for Entries Promotion and Cooperation Request for ‘Seoul Design Award 2023’ to UNESCO Cities of Design

Greetings from the Seoul Design Award 2023 Secretariat.
Seoul Design Award 2023 is an international design Award that recognizes designers or organizations who have made a positive impact by creatively solving complex daily issues and fostering harmonious and sustainable relationships with people, society, the environment, and nature. Since its inception in 2019, it is an international design award that participates in project submissions from more than 30 countries, and 28 judges and advisors from 16 countries participated this year.
Building upon the success of the past four years, Seoul Design Award 2023 aims to further strengthen its brand and serve as a crucial global platform to share the purpose and values of the award with the world. In this regard, we are dedicated to enhancing our efforts to promote sustainability and reinforce Seoul Design Award as a leading international design accolade.
As we begin the call for submissions for Seoul Design Award 2023, we kindly request your active cooperation and support in promoting the competition. By gathering exceptional examples of sustainable design and spreading them worldwide, we can collectively contribute to a brighter future.
We would like to provide you with an overview of the submission details for the 4th Seoul Design Award and kindly request your cooperation in promoting the event.
※Award Submission Overview:
– Name of the Award: Seoul Design Award 2023
– Theme: Design for sustainable everyday life, focusing on harmonious relationships between people, society, and the environment
– Key Values:
① Public/Shared: Can be shared with others in the public domain
② Creativity/Innovation: Creative and innovative problem-solving approaches
③ Participation/Cooperation: Involvement of citizens and collaboration across various fields
④ Inspiration/Influence: Widely inspiring and influencing others
⑤ Sustainability: Promotes sustainable relationships between people, society, and the environment
– Categories: All design disciplines (Product, Visual, Digital/Multimedia, Space/System, Service/Experience/Social, etc.)
n Category 1: Design projects realized within the past 5 years
n Category 2: Research projects with actionable implementation plans *Applicable for Special Award (Research Award) only
– Eligibility: Designers/Planners (Note: Designers and planners can submit together, but individual submissions are not allowed)
– Submission Period: March 14th, ’23 (Tue) to June 28th, ’23 (Wed), 24:00 (KST)
– Submission Method:
1) Visit the Seoul Design Award website: http://www.seouldesignaward.or.kr/
2) Click on “Guidelines” on the website and select “Submission”
3) Register on the submission page and proceed with the submission
– Awards (Total of 25 teams):
Grand Prize(1st): 1 team – 50,000,000 KRW
Best of the Best(2nd): 3 teams – 15,000,000 KRW each
– Creativeness/Innovation: 1 team
– Participation/Cooperation: 1 team
– Inspiration/Impact: 1 team
Honorable Mention(3rd): 7 teams – 5,000,000 KRW each
Finalists(4th): 10 teams
Special Awards: 4 teams – 5,000,000 KRW each
– Citizen’s Award (1 domestic, 1 international): 2 teams
– Research Award: 1 team *Applicable for the Research category only
– Issue of the Year Award (Digital): 1 team
