Complex 01 complex – Awaken industrial heritage

Located at 29 corner 31 lane 167 Tay Son, Dong Da District, between residential areas, Complex 01 complex will be a small surprise for those who are far away from Hanoi for a long time. Previously, this project was a trade union printer, built in the 1960s of the last century. After implementing the policy of relocating industrial plants from the inner city, this place is abandoned and degraded.

In 2020, the project is repaired and renovated into a creative space with a modern appearance, but still retains the beauty reminiscent of the old memories with rusty stairs, rough brick walls No plaster and the banners record the slogan: “Color printer No. 2 strives to exceed the production target of 35,000 printed/shift sheets” …

Complex 01 complex is built in the Community Mall model (community complex) and the spirit of “Time to Connect” (connected) with 4 main groups of activity: shopping, food, workshop and event. According to the managing unit, Complex 01 complex is trying to bring an essential living space for the community, thereby creating a sustainable cultural space for each person to come and become a one. Part of “Hanoi Creative City”.

High community connectivity is expressed by the division of open space, multi -function. It could be the stage for big concerts with the participation of hundreds of artists such as “because a Hanoi is worth living” in 2021, there are also small spaces for large -scale activities of just over a dozen. People … this place can also “transform” into a book fair, fair to sell manual goods, exchange old goods, launch products, tools … connect social cultural activities such as talk shows about gender equality; Workshop painting, flower arrangement, paper mask, bag drawing, shaping, printing Dong Ho paintings … more often than movie activities, music, fashion shows, exhibitions …

When there is no event, this place is an open workspace that is popular with young people. Calling yourself a gentle food and drink at a very affordable cost is to have a open workplace in the middle of the noisy city. Complex 01 complex is also a check-in point of young people with many unique decorations.

It can be said that Complex 01 complex is a successful pioneering step in “awakening industrial heritage” and inspiring Hanoi to continue creating many new creative spaces from rebuilding factories, The old factory in the inner city, thereby contributing to preserving memories, creating cultural values, contributing to the creative economy and sustainable development of the urban area.

Making into the creative space network in Hanoi also has familiar but strange addresses. Familiarity because it is a museum system, theater, exhibition … for a long time; Strangely because these places are blown new wind with creative ideas. Notably, the Hanoi Museum (Pham Hung Street, Nam Tu Liem District) was chosen as the headquarters of the Hanoi Creative Space Coordination Center. Taking on this role, the Hanoi Museum has actively and proactively innovating the approach to the public.

Coming to the Hanoi Museum, visitors have the opportunity to understand the history of thousands of years of Thang Long – Hanoi through the system of images, documents, and massive artifacts, and can feel contemporary life. of the city through the thematic display space, experience activities … At the end of 2023, early 2024, at the same time, the Hanoi Museum introduced many content of display intertwined between old and present, self. VCCA – Multi -color

Having been familiar with the public for a long time but has never surprised the viewers, it is Vincom Contemporary Art Center (VCCA – at Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72A Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan District). This is the place where many exhibitions, artistic activities leave a strong impression, even pioneering exhibitions. The mission that this innovative space sets for themselves is to become a place to connect artists to the community, connect the work to the lover of beauty, connect contemporary art of Vietnam with contemporary art world. VCCA aims to be one of the important art centers of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Coming to VCCA at the time of transfer in 2023 to 2024, visitors seem to be able to step through many emotional levels, when sedimentation, recovery before the sound of the violin, cello, clarinet … in the concert event event “Silk shadow”, sometimes lost in multi -dimensional, multi -meaning space when watching the exhibition “emotional tide” by artist Chiharu Shiota. By arranging art, the Japanese artist used old boats of Vietnamese fishermen and linked them with a network of red threads. Each boat carries the story of the sea, containing memories and experiences, so it implies the past and present. The red threads intertwined like social relationships, may be cut, tangled or knotted but inseparable … This interesting exhibition takes place until the end of March-2024.

In addition to events, art programs and exhibitions, the entire area of nearly 4,000m2 of VCCA is arranged both creative, close, erasing the gap between the work, the art space, the artist and the public. . At this point, each person is free to feel and enjoy art in their own way. For those who have “quality” artists and creative ability, they seem to have more “catalysts” to enable ideas …

In order to promote the potential, maximize the creative spaces, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports is building a set of criteria for classification and evaluation of creative cultural space in Hanoi – towards the establishment of a network Hanoi creative space. The set of criteria will contribute to preserving and developing creative space for the people of the Capital and tourists to enjoy cultural values.
