“Ghen Co Vy”-The handwashing dance, the creativity of youth, spreads a message of community unity in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic
Recently, the burning questions related to acute pneumonia caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus have appeared everywhere. The image of medical staff or functional forces struggling day and night to prevent and control the pandemic is no stranger to us. It makes each of us emotionally touched. In the tension of the pandemic, to convey the message of joining hands to prevent and control Coronavirus disease(COVID-19) pandemic, the handwashing song “Ghen Co Vy” – a part of The #EndCoV project by the National Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health (Ministry of Health), in collaboration with musician Khac Hung, singer Min and Erik, dancer Quang Dang and Goodwill Ambassador Chau Bui has been released. The song is incredible and is warmly received by viewers not only in Vietnam but around the world.
The young dancer Quang Dang choreographed the handwashing dance moves to go with the song “Ghen Co Vy”. The dance has easy movements, cheerful melody, and catchy lyrics. Surprisingly even for the author himself, this song has resonated throughout the social network forums both inside and outside of Vietnam. This is an inspirational song and a music phenomenon that has a global spread. Besides, the song has been praised on many popular news sites such as BBC News (UK), Fox News, New York Post (USA), BFMTV (France) as well as has appeared on music magazine Billboard – the largest music magazine in the United States. In Asia, the TVB cast, Hong Kong media channels, Malaysian singers are also excited to perform the dance moves.
The song and the dance have created a great social effect which has made the propaganda on the prevention of COVID-19 more successful. Even medical staff widely do handwashing dance to reduce stress after the hard-working hours. Till now, the song has had more than 32 million viewers, has subtitles in 25 languages, especially in English so that people over the world can easily approach the message. The handwashing dance-“Ghen Co Vy” has made the image of Vietnam with the spirit “Fighting against the pandemic like fighting against enemies” be known more widely. Also, the song has spoken the solidarity of preventing the pandemic.
Indeed, music always connects to our soul, is the universal language of mankind. Music is even more special when combined with creativity. This combination also opened up a new direction for the propaganda method. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more such innovative products contributing to the fight against COVID19, an unknown ending pandemic.
