Issue of special stamp set commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army

On the morning of December 18, the Ministry of Information and Communications, in collaboration with the Propaganda Department of the General Department of Political Affairs (Ministry of Defense), and Vietnam Post, issued a special stamp set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defense Festival (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2024).

The stamp set includes four designs created in a graphic style, arranged chronologically to reflect the history and heroic traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army. The logo commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army’s founding is featured across all the stamp designs.

In which, Stamp 4-1 is themed “From the people, for the people to fight,” depicting the image of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, with 34 members, who, along with local armed forces and the people, launched the general uprising to seize power in the August Revolution of 1945.

Stamp 4-2 carries the meaning of “Determined to fight, determined to win,” with the prominent image of a liberation soldier. The stamp reflects the strength, offensive spirit, and determination to win of the soldiers. The background of the stamp highlights heroic victories, from the 1954 Dien Bien Phu victory to the great Spring Victory in 1975, and the reunification train of the country arranged chronologically.

Stamp 4-3, titled “Ready to fight to defend the Fatherland,” portrays the military always ready to fight, train, and produce. This stamp shows three soldiers representing different military branches, holding their rifles firmly to protect the Fatherland.

Stamp 4-4 is themed “The Army and the People Share One Will.” This represents the motivation for every officer and soldier to strive to complete all tasks excellently with a spirit of serving the people, always ready to fight and sacrifice for the prosperous, free, and happy life of the people, always relying on the people to fight, build, and grow.

The stamps measure 43 x 32mm and were designed by artist Nguyễn Du. They will be available through the postal network from December 18, 2024, to June 30, 2026.

Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Communications had released 5 stamp sets commemorating the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army in the years: 1959, 1964, 1979, 1985, and 1994.
