Kid Witness News (KWN) – Through the Eyes of Children is a global, non-profit filmmaking education program initiated by Panasonic Corporation. Aimed at students aged 10 to 18, the program seeks to spark creativity, nurture visual storytelling skills, and foster a sense of social responsibility among the younger generation. It also helps students build awareness of social issues while developing teamwork and communication skills.

This year’s edition begins with the theme of exploring Vietnamese culture and expressing national identity through the lens of children, marking 18 years of Kid Witness News in Vietnam.

As part of the event, students from 16 filmmaking teams explored the distinctive cultural and historical space of the Hanoi Museum. They participated in creative outdoor activities and engaged in hands-on filmmaking, from ideation and scriptwriting to directing, acting, cinematography, and post-production. The program not only offered students exposure to professional filmmaking techniques but also provided opportunities to develop visual thinking and deliver messages in a clear and creative way.

Experience-based activities during the event

A highlight of the event was an engaging talk with People’s Artist Lan Huong and Meritorious Artist Tu Oanh – two veteran figures of Vietnamese cinema known for their acclaimed works such as Living with Mother-in-law and The Taste of Family Love… In a warm and open atmosphere, the artists shared authentic stories from their careers, emotional journeys in the arts, and lessons on sustaining passion in acting. The dialogue created a valuable bridge between generations, offering inspiration and encouragement to young filmmakers as they take their first steps into the creative world.

Kid Witness News 2025 – “Through the Eyes of Children” not only offered an engaging and meaningful experience but also encouraged young participants to observe, reflect on, and tell stories about the world around them from their own unique perspectives. Outstanding filmmaking teams will go on to represent Vietnam at the KWN Global Contest, where students from various countries come together to connect, exchange, and share stories through the creative, humanistic, and powerful language of cinema.
