OPENING OF HANOI CREATIVE DESIGN FESTIVAL 2022
On the evening of November 11th 2022, at Hoan Kiem Lake walking space and surrounding areas, Hanoi People’s Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Architects organized the opening of Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022. The event was accompanied by UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, UN-HABITAT United Nations Human Settlement, Vietnam Handicraft Export Association, Hanoi Center of Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion
Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 is honored to have the participation of Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Christan Manhart, UNESCO Representative in Viet Nam; Mr. Bui Hoai Son, Permanent Member of Committee on Culture and Education of the National Assembly; Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and representatives of ministries, departments and central agencies; ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations, artisans, artists, entrepreneurs in the field of creative design.
Comrade Do Dinh Hong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports gave the opening speech
Speaking at the opening, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, affirmed that Hanoi is a unique capital converging rich and diverse cultural heritage treasures and dynamic creative communities. Hanoi has been having full potential and advantages to become an incubator to converge, promote cultural creativity and create the good products and services of cultural industries that are highly competitive in the country, region and global.
Mr. Do Dinh Hong said: “Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 with the theme “Design and technology” is an impressive cultural installation space with diverse and meaningful designs, typical intangible cultural heritages performed by artisans, artists. The festival not only highlights the creativity on traditional materials, but also is a place for artists, architects, artisans to flourish in emotions, freely express creative ideas.”
Mr. Christan Manhart, UNESCO Representative in Viet Nam gave a speech for the opening remarks
Mr. Christian Manhart expressed UNESCO’s willingness to join hands with Hanoi in organizing the Hanoi Creative Design Festival to become a place for artistic talents to exchange, meet and contribute to the overall development of the city. He urged the people of the city to join in supporting the artists and the success of this festival.
Mr. Phan Dang Son, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects gave the opening speech
Mr. Phan Dang Son emphasized that the success of Unleashing Creativity Week 2021 has unlocked greater aspirations for the Creative Design Festival 2022 to expand the scale and depth of connection between author groups, artists and the public. “With these 50 types of art and connection activities, the groups of authors and artists want to bring Hanoi an experiential and connected space and an educational element events, aiming to build Hanoi’s art villages, as well as craft villages nationwide to effectively industrialize Vietnamese cultural. Moreover, these cultural spaces and cultural activities have made people interact, connect, spread culture in the community together so that Hanoi is always a livable city, at the forefront of creativity and leading in the development of Vietnamese culture”
Right after the opening ceremony was the Hanoi Flow program. With the participation of many artists and promising young vocalists, it has brought to the public an impressive and unique harmony, light. Exhibition areas, creative spaces around Hoan Kiem Lake are also officially open to visitors.

Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 is held from 11th to 20th of November 2022 with the theme “Creativity and technology. The festival is an impressive cultural installation space with diverse, creative products and typical intangible cultural heritages performed impressively by artisans, artists, and cultural lovers of the Capital.
Through the event, Hanoi’s authorities call on all people to join hands to build the capital, from a City for Peace to a UNESCO Creative City.
