SHARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATION WHEN JOINING THE NETWORK OF INNOVATIVE CITIES

On the afternoon of September 14, 2022, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports had a meeting with Mr. Christian Manhart – UNESCO’s Chief Representative in Vietnam and Mr. Thierry Vergon – Director of UNESCO. Director of the French Institute in Hanoi to exchange cooperation opportunities when joining the Creative Cities Network.

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Culture Department, UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, the French Institute in Hanoi; representatives of departments and units under the Department like Office, Cultural Heritage Management, Legal Organization, Art Management, Cultural Management, Planning and Finance, Hanoi Library, The Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam

At the meeting, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Member, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports expressed his pleasure and honor to welcome Mr. Christian Manhart – UNESCO’s chief

Representative in Vietnam and Mr. Thierry Vergon – Director of the French Institute in Hanoi; At the same time, he hopes that UNESCO as well as the French Institute will continue to provide practical support to Hanoi in the field of cultural development in general, the development of cultural industry in particular, including the field of creative design… With the help of UNESCO and the French Institute in Hanoi, in the coming time, Hanoi will have more creativity in the fields of fashion, cuisine, art…. UNESCO and the French Institute in Hanoi help to reorganize the city’s space from the Revolutionary Museum, Opera House, Trang Tien Street, especially the balcony area of Trang Tien Street, the area around Sword Lake, and Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square with the wishes that Sword Lake will be a real scene about the legend of Sword Lake for those who love Sword Lake and love Hanoi; renovating the space around West Lake to turn this place into a venue for many typical cultural, sports and artistic events…

On this occasion, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong shared the activities that Hanoi has actively implemented to implement initiatives to join UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network by 2025.

With special affection for Hanoi, Mr. Christian Manhart – Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam and Mr. Thierry Vergon – Director of the French Institute in Hanoi introduced specific programs of activities of the French Institute in Hanoi when in collaboration with UNESCO, related to the Creative City program, including: Workshops and exhibitions on the development of the imaging industry, the project on industrial heritage: Potential to renovate the old factory into a creative space, photo festival Hanoi photo; UNESCO activities in collaboration with Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in 2023: International workshop to share experiences on building creative spaces, Hanoi Creative Design Festival.

At the meeting, the multi-party discussed cooperation opportunities between the French Embassy, UNESCO and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Sharing opportunities for cooperation in fulfilling commitments when joining UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, in association with the development of Hanoi’s cultural industry in the coming time.
