UNESCO DIRECTOR-GENERAL ATTENDS THE OPENING CEREMONY AT NGO SI LIEN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Ngo Si Lien is one of the schools selected to participate in the “Education for Sustainable Careers” project of the UNESCO Associated School Network. The school is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive, equitable, quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for generations of students.

In the afternoon of September 5th , General Director of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay attended the ceremony of the beginning of a school year 2022-2023, at Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, Hoan Kiem District. Attending the ceremony was Vice President of Hanoi People’s Committee, Chu Xuan Dung.

After the flag-raising ceremony, students of Ngo Si Lien Secondary School heard the Letter from President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the Education sector on the occasion of the new school year 2022-2023.

In the school year 2022-2023, Ngo Si Lien Secondary School has 53 classes, more than 120 teachers and more than 2,000 students. Teachers and students are determined to take responsibility for the community with the goal of nurturing and helping to develop all the potentials in each student, achieving more proud goals to deserve the 100-year tradition of the school named after the cultural celebrity, historian Ngo Si Lien.

Welcoming more than 600 students of grade 6 to Ngo Si Lien Secondary School in the new school year, Ms. Pham Thu Ha, Principal of the school affirmed: Ngo Si Lien is one of the schools selected to participate in the project “Education for sustainable careers” of the UNESCO Associated School Network. The school is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive, equitable, quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for generations of students. Pham Thu Ha recalled the school’s efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2021-2022 school year to remind students to do their best.

At the opening ceremony of new school year, Ms. Audrey Azoulay made the opening drum and joined students, administrators, teachers, staff and delegates to visit traditional rooms, study rooms, function rooms of the school. Ms. Audrey Azoulay expressed her joy at the school’s efforts to overcome difficulties in the 2021-2022 school year and welcome the good new school year. “In Viet Nam, 23 educational institutions participating in the associated education network committed to the path of educational development with UNESCO, implementing the educational tasks of the 21st century. Ngo Si Lien is a forward-looking school with clubs of student-oriented, science-oriented activities. The school is always concerned about climate change issues and it’s required the participation of the school, teachers, families and students to achieve the expected goals”, said Audrey Azoulay.
