“Vietnam Interior – Architecture Trends 2026–2030”: A multi-dimensional dialogue on Vietnamese interior identity
As part of the activities surrounding the launch of Trend 26+, the talk show brought together leading speakers and experts in architecture and interior design to provide analysis and forecasts on the key trends expected to shape Vietnam’s design landscape over the next five years.
Discussions expanded from global contexts—highlighting major shifts influencing society, aesthetic preferences, and consumer psychology—to practical examples from the Asia–Pacific region, where numerous countries are actively working to cultivate distinct local design identities. Special guests presented their latest design works, sparking creativity among attendees and readers of Trend 26+.
Ms. Gemma Riberti – Head of Interiors at WGSN London – shared her perspective on Global Macro Trends in Interior Design 2026–2030. According to her, the future of design lies in glocalization, emphasizing cultural preservation and cross-cultural exchange. She noted that although the market will be saturated with interior products, consumers will increasingly seek items that embody meaningful identity and storytelling—products that help them feel seen and understood.
Designer Wesley Liu – Founder of PplusP Creations and PhD researcher at RMIT University (Australia) – presented a model for identity creation in Hong Kong and Australia, and insights relevant to Vietnam, including the process of localizing global trends in China. He observed that creating mass-available products devoid of cultural or identity value can leave customers disappointed:
“When you look for a designer who focuses purely on design without research, the work becomes disjointed and ill-suited to the project’s context.”
Architect Hoàng Thúc Hào – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Architects’ Association and Founder of 1+1>2 Architecture Office – emphasized the role of architecture in “Redefining Vietnamese Aesthetics from Heritage to Modernity.” He noted that while each era produces its own unique architectural tendencies, contemporary Vietnamese architecture is converging with global trends characterized by three keywords: Humble – Harmonious – Powerful.

Notably, under the lead of Designer Lưu Việt Thắng, the speakers engaged in an in-depth discussion on interior design trends expected to shape Vietnam in the coming years. The guiding question of the talk show – “How can Vietnamese interior design create its own identity amid global integration?” – served as a key reference point for proposing future directions for the industry:
- Personalization of living spaces;
- Growing demand for sustainable and essential products;
- Green architecture and interior design;
- Celebrating heritage and art within living environments.
Throughout the conversation, experts agreed that interior design plays the role of a “third skin”, a connective layer linking people, environment, and cultural identity. It is this relationship that shapes living spaces with strong personal character, where users can truly express who they are.
Architect Lê Trường, Chairman of the Vietnam Interior Design Association, shared:
“Vietnamese interior design is currently entering a phase of rapid development, with the emergence of many talented young designers, promising domestic brands, and a market that is increasingly focused on aesthetics, experience, and culture. However, reality also shows: We are still lacking effective connectivity within a creative ecosystem, lacking long-term orientation for a distinct design language, and lacking support mechanisms for Vietnamese interior design to build its brand on the international stage.
With Trend 26+ and today’s talk show, we hope not just to create a short-term ‘impulse,’ but aim to form a chain of: Data – Thinking – Action – heading toward the goal of developing Vietnamese interior trends in a creative and sustainable direction. The Vietnam Interior Design Association will continue to accompany partners in professional activities, competitions, talk shows, publications, and especially creative support programs linked to professional practice in this journey of a thousand miles.”
Official release of the Trend 26+ publication
Regarded as the first trend publication dedicated to Vietnam’s interior design industry, Trend 26+ marks a significant turning point—signaling a shift from passive reception to active research, forecasting, and creation of trends. The publication draws on data from WGSN (World Global Style Network), the world’s leading trend forecasting organization; insights from major international exhibitions; and in-depth contributions from 45 authors across Vietnam and the Asia–Pacific region.
More than just a publication, Trend 26+ serves as a manifesto for a new vision: building a sustainable creative ecosystem where designers, architects, professional associations, and pioneering industry brands work in resonance to shape a distinctive Vietnamese interior and architectural identity within the global flow.
Dr. Arch. Phan Đăng Sơn, Chairman of the Vietnam Architects’ Association, praised the debut of this landmark publication:
“While the awareness and creativity of architects and designers regarding the promotion and adaptation of traditional cultural identity still lack depth and consistency; and on the other hand, the work of Theory – Criticism – Argumentation – Training in Vietnam still has many shortcomings… the launch of Trend 26+, a specialized publication on interior architecture trends – professionally sponsored by the Vietnam Architects’ Association – will contribute a valuable foundation for Architecture and Interior Design to have more opportunities to flourish, be rich in local character, and integrate globally in a modern, sustainable direction. The Talk Show ‘Vietnam Interior – Architecture Trends 2026-2030,’ with the participation of highly reputable leading experts, is truly a timely dialogue, amplifying and spreading the core spirit and contributing values of the professional community in the fields of design, culture, and creativity.”
The official release of Trend 26+ and the Talk Show Vietnam Interior – Architecture Trends 2026–2030 opened a dynamic, multi-dimensional dialogue among architects, designers, businesses, and both domestic and international experts. With the arrival of Trend 26+, the aspiration to shape a unique Vietnamese interior design identity no longer feels distant; it is becoming an achievable goal. This marks a pivotal milestone in the professional community’s efforts to preserve cultural identity, nurture creative passion, and steadily assert the strength of Vietnamese design on the path of global integration.
