“Our Ao Dai” – Spreading The Traditional Ao Dai’s Cultural Value
On April 9th, at the Temple of Literature Special National Monument, Thang Long Culture Research Institute in collaboration with Tinh Hoa Dat Viet Magazine has organized the “Our Ao Dai” event, in the theme of “The world through the Vietnamese Ao Dai”
Some of the appearances are Mrs. Ha Thi Nga – Central Party Committee Member, President of the Vietnam Women’s Union; Representatives of the leaders of ministries, departments in central branches and Hanoi; Representatives of embassies, friendship organizations alongside with the citizen locals
“Our Ao Dai” is an event in the framework of the Vietnam Women’s Union Vietnamese Ao Dai Legacy campaign, given celebrating the traditional beauty and values of Vietnamese Women.
The event has showcased over 600 Ao Dai designs, taking inspiration from distinctive cultural beauty features from nations all over the globe, made from Vietnamese eco-friendly traditional material such as Silk, Cotton, Linen,…
With the participation of 15 Vietnamese Designers, International audiences have the opportunity to travel around the world through the Vietnamese Ao Dai. Designer Cao Minh follows the France essence of beauty, while Phuong Thanh took inspiration from Holland’s Tulips. Whereas Trinh Bich Thuy’s collection told an enchanting Greecian myth, Ha Duy chooses to take inspiration from Japanese profound architecture.
The event’s director – Ms. Minh Hạnh shared: “These are the first 15 of the 100 Ao Dai Collections, taking inspiration from the cultural identities of 100 countries, that are going to be created by Vietnamese designers and presented this year. These creations are meant to showcase Ao Dai’s high compatibility, even with distinct cultures. Ao Dai is not only adored domestically but also internationally”.
The President of Vietnam Culture & National Art Research Institute (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) – Mr. Bui Hoai Son has informed us that our Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has worked in tandem with Vietnam Women’s Union to organize many activities, for raising awareness, the responsibility of the people in preserving and promoting traditional Ao Dai’s values, thus create a network of activities with great depth and appeal.
“Related agencies and units are considering to recognize Ao Dai as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the first step in becoming UNESCO’s Humanity Intangible Cultural Heritage; at the same time, conducting in-depth research on Ao Dai, in hope of finding suitable managing, protecting solutions for Ao Dai’s heritage values” – stated bt Mr. Bui Hoai Son.
