Developing resources for the “Creative City” brand

On November 21, at the Hanoi Museum, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the British Council Vietnam organized the international seminar “Hanoi Creative City – Brand building and resource development ”. This is an activity in a series of events at the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023.

The discussion is an opportunity for Hanoi to exchange experiences with UK Creative Cities such as: Belfast, Derry ~ Londonderry, Dundee, as well as discuss opportunities to cooperate, create and develop the Hanoi brand. Noi – Creative City in the field of future design.

Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong spoke at the discussion.

“In the coming year, Hanoi City will continue to implement many activities to connect and build a Creative City such as: Strengthening the Coordination Board and Steering Committee; Participate in global and regional Creative City conferences and forums; Promote communication work; Connect, launch and support the operation of the Network of creative spaces in the city; Organizing the annual Hanoi Creative Design Festival; Organize the Creative Cities Network Forum in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific; Building Hanoi Creative Design Center, Hanoi Cultural Industry Center – said Mr. Do Dinh Hong.

* Experience in building the Creative City brand internationally
Experts from the UK also shared their experiences in building a Creative City brand, taking culture as the foundation and people as the center for development. Also from effectively promoting available resources and implementation methods, even though they are small cities, they have positioned their brand to the world.

Besides raising issues about re-imagining the brand identity of cities, including Hanoi, the discussion also proposed ways to develop creative communities in urban areas. This is also part of the message that the international discussion wants to convey in its action goal, which is the effective connection between talented multi-generational creators, thereby providing action plans. Actively helping the Capital shape the value and uniqueness of its brand.

Emphasizing the role and great value of the creative economy, Ms. Donna Mcgowan, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, said that the creative industry is not a choice, but an extremely important part. of development in the new century, connecting society and solving many current challenges. The success of the creative economy is one of the UK’s bright spots. Therefore, the British Council always has a program to support creative industries with new thinking, connecting the future. Ms. Donna Mcgowan also affirmed that she always connects, cooperates, and shares ideas with Hanoi city to support honoring the Creative City and developing the cultural industry. She also hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will achieve their goals and missions so that Hanoi can achieve its aspiration of being a Creative City in the field of design at a new level.
