Hanoi – A Capital of Culture and Courage: 80 Years Walking with the Nation

Within the expansive setting of the national exhibition “80 Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness”, Hanoi’s exhibition space has emerged as a compelling highlight—inviting visitors on a vivid journey through eight decades of shared history with the nation.

Covering nearly 700 square meters, Hanoi’s pavilion is located in the “Prosperous Provinces, Strong Nation” zone and carries the theme “Hanoi – A Capital of Culture and Courage: 80 Years Walking with the Nation.” The exhibition offers the city an opportunity to showcase its outstanding socio-economic achievements, reaffirm its thousand-year-old cultural identity, and convey its aspirations for the future in an era of global integration. On August 28, 2025, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, visited the exhibition space.

Entering Space 1 – “Hanoi, an Everlasting Epic”, visitors are immersed in the heroic atmosphere of wartime years. Iconic models such as Long Bien Bridge, the Hanoi Flag Tower, and the historic battle of “Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in the Air” are combined with images and artifacts that recall the spirit of “Sacrificing all for the survival of the nation.” Through carefully orchestrated sound and lighting, the exhibition powerfully evokes the resilience and courage of Hanoi’s people, leaving a deep emotional impression.

In Space 2 – “Reconstruction, Renewal, and Development alongside the Nation,” the focal point is a large LED globe set against the backdrop of heritage landmarks such as the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Temple of Literature. Images of doves in flight symbolize Hanoi’s designation as a “City for Peace,” awarded by UNESCO in 1999. The display also features key industrial products, high-tech innovations, OCOP goods, and traditional handicrafts painting a picture of a capital city that has advanced with resilience and creativity throughout the renovation period.

Moving into Space 3 “A Vision for the Future,” visitors encounter a scale model of Hanoi’s Master Plan toward 2045, with a vision extending to 2065. Advanced presentation technologies holograms, 3D mapping, AI, and holobox displays bring this future to life. Dominated by calming shades of green, the space underscores Hanoi’s aspiration to become a capital that is “Cultured – Civilized – Modern – Globally Connected.”
