Hanoi launches digital platform “A80 – Proud Vietnam”

On the morning of 8 August 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Hanoi officially launched the digital platform “A80 – Proud Vietnam,” a centralised, official information hub in the form of a website and mobile app, envisioned as a digital guide for citizens, visitors, and international audiences throughout the series of major national commemorative events.

The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Luu Dinh Phuc, Director General of the Press Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Truong Viet Dung, Member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Dao Xuan Dung, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilisation; Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; and Nguyen Dinh Hung, Acting Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health.

The event was also attended by representatives of various departments, agencies and sectors, alongside Hanoi-based media organisations, partner units involved in the development and operation of the “A80 – Proud Vietnam” website and mobile app, as well as a large number of journalists from central and Hanoi press outlets.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, подчеркed that 2025 marks a major historical milestone—80 years since the great autumn of 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence at the historic Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and ushering in a new era for the nation—an era of independence, freedom, and sacred sovereignty.

Within this heroic historical continuum, Hanoi—the heart of the country—has not only borne witness to pivotal national moments but has also served as a place where cultural values and patriotic traditions converge and radiate outward. Entrusted with coordinating key commemorative activities, the capital is diligently, thoughtfully, and creatively preparing for a series of major national events of profound significance.

With this mission in mind, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has developed a digital ecosystem titled “A80 – Proud Vietnam.” More than a conventional information portal, the platform is envisioned as an “intelligent assistant” and a “companion” for residents and visitors alike, supporting them in exploring, experiencing, and fully engaging with each moment of the commemorative activities taking place across the capital.

Centralized, consistent, and reliable information

In a context where major events are often accompanied by information overload and misinformation on social media, the A80 platform is positioned as a digital information hub that is “centralized, consistent, and reliable”. Instead of searching across multiple sources, residents and visitors can now access a single destination to obtain comprehensive and verified information related to the national commemorations.

Specifically, the platform will provide continuous and accurate updates on the detailed schedules of the national-level military parade and march, along with cultural, artistic, and exhibition activities taking place across the city. These are among the most anticipated events nationwide, enabling the public to plan their time and choose suitable locations to follow the celebrations either in person or via broadcast channels.
