Launch of the cultural product design competition “Following the footsteps of community heritage”

As part of the “Connected Heritage – Digital Heritage Collection” Project – and with the mission of accompanying communities in preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage – the cultural product design competition “Following the Footsteps of Community Heritage” is organized by TUVA Communication, in partnership with the British Council in Vietnam, the Hanoi Creative Activities Coordination Center, the Center for Research and Promotion of Cultural Heritage Values, Craft Link, Comicola, and with media support from Hanoi Grapevine and Heritage Art Space.

The competition is open for submissions from June 17 to July 31, 2025. It targets young people aged 18-30 currently living and working in Vietnam, who have a passion for designing cultural products and a desire to contribute to the preservation and promotion of community cultural heritage.

This year’s theme invites participants to propose a design concept for a cultural or creative industry product inspired by intangible cultural heritage, with priority given to heritage elements that are at risk of disappearing or remain little-known. Contestants must illustrate their idea through one or more forms such as photographs, hand drawings, digital illustrations, sketches, design projects, or technical drawings. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not derived from any existing work.

Each entry must include a permission letter allowing the Organizing Committee (OC) to use the material for non-commercial communication purposes, following the template provided in the registration form.

The competition is conducted entirely online via Entries will be submitted through the registration form and posted on the website during the voting period. Submission steps include:

1️⃣ Step 1: Fill in the contestant information and submit the entry via the form here: https://bit.ly/3SSaQJm 

2️⃣ Step 2: Receive a confirmation email from the OC that the entry is valid.

3️⃣ Step 3: Receive an email confirming that the entry has been posted and soliciting participation in voting and interaction on the website disanketnoi.vn.

4️⃣ Step 4: Receive notification of the preliminary round results and the next steps to participate in the final round.

The competition features four main prizes evaluated by the Jury, including: 01 Gold Prize, 01 Silver Prize, 01 Bronze Prize, and 01 Potential Prize. The total value of the main prizes is 17,000,000 VND, along with collaboration opportunities to realize the product. The competition also awards 01 Audience Favorite Prize, based on votes on the website disanketnoi.vn, with a prize value of 2,000,000 VND.

The competition aims to promote the relevance of cultural heritage in contemporary life, carry living legacies into the future, and bring heritage closer to the public, especially young people. It reflects the ongoing efforts of the Connected Heritage – Digital Heritage Collection Project, initiated by the British Council and jointly implemented by TUVA Communication, to create meaningful opportunities for communities to contribute directly to and benefit from cultural heritage preservation.
