“Nguyên (âm) đơn” is the debut play by director Tố Diệp—Presentation No. 3 of the TÂN HẬU TRƯỜNG (New Backstage) Theater Project. Unlike traditional plays, the work is built upon individual and collective memories, starting with a lullaby but not ending with a dream. The play is a journey of deconstructing memory, where illusion and reality collide, shattering the things that were once believed, learned, and accepted. This is the result of a collective creative journey, featuring contributions from a traditional artisan, a contemporary artist, the continuity of heritage and artistic practices, individual memory, collective memory, the struggle and transformation of memory, and the perspective and practice of a woman, a poet, a first-time playwright, and a media professional.

TÂN HẬU TRƯỜNG (2024 – 2025) is a non-profit theater project initiated and led by XplusX Studio, partnered by Goethe-Institut Hanoi and Manzi Art Space. TÂN HẬU TRƯỜNG aims to support new voices in contemporary Vietnamese performance art and drama, while providing conditions for experimental theatrical practices to develop independently.

The three premiere nights of “Nguyên (âm) đơn” opened up a complete and emotional creative journey. The play not only attracted the artistic community but also reached many young audiences who love experimental and independent theater.
